When you say Halloween party games, the classics come to mind for me--bobbing for apples (or eating apple cider donuts off a piece of string), dropping clothespins into a jar while standing over it, wrapping up friends like mummies with bandages and seeing who can do it the fastest. Those are some of my favorite memories as a kid.
It's so wild that hot chocolate season is almost upon us. It's pretty cold at night where I am, so I'd say it's already here! When it comes to keeping the pantry stocked for cold nights, I usually get a powdered mix for my family (with marshmallows!) but I like mine without much sugar, so I use the actual cocoa powder and add in what I like, which sometimes includes a little salt or cayenne powder.

Although there are plenty of 80s movies, TV shows, music and trends that did not pass the test of time, 80s nostalgia usually still speaks to my heart--especially in terms of movies. Who has two thumbs and plays The Goonies while working at least once a week? This person! So when I saw this list of 18 kids' films from the decade that are "definitely the best," I knew we had to check it out.
If there's one Halloween event I wish I could attend this month, it's Graham's RoyalTea Haunted Spooktacular Halloween. This event is not only at an old, supposedly haunted building, but it's going to feature so many yummy goodies. Think high tea but with a ghoulish twist! It's no secret that we love a good poetry challenge around here, so when I heard that this year's GISH Halloween challenge, also known as Halloweird, was featuring a poetry prompt on the first day, I thought I'd share it with y'all. Halloween is less than two weeks away! How are your Halloween reads going? So far I haven't read exactly what I thought I'd read, but I'm having fun reading what I have read! Copies of Bradbury's The Halloween Tree, Schlitz's Splendors & Glooms and other seasonal books are on my library shelf but I haven't yet been able to really dive into any of them just yet.
Today's youth are more informed and aware than ever, which is fantastic. Some older people, from Millennials on up, can often feel behind and even embarrassed about not knowing correct terminology or how to approach issues--whether those issues affect them or they just want to be allies. There have been so many classes online this year to help combat these issues, many of them free, and I've been learning so much from them.
Send a Cake is a completely new concept to me, but I'm in love with it without ever having even sampled one already. They are amazing-looking! Each cake is a work of art itself, but it arrives in an artful display, sometimes with "butterflies" that fly out, confetti or other cool surprises. It's a whole experience, which is so great for people who can't be near one another, especially while social distancing. I wish I'd known about it sooner.
Every year it seems like more celebrities join the Food Network (as well as other networks) to join in the Halloween festivities. Among many other celebrities, Alyson Hannigan is joining in this year, which makes me want to tune in even more than I previously did--although I'd still watch some of these Halloween programs no matter what!

Several specific songs have even been identified that provide us with "musical chills" and feelings of happiness. This is definitely true for me. There are many songs that give me these feelings. Back in high school and college, I often cried while singing from connecting to the music so much.
Support animals come in all shapes and sizes. We normally hear about support and service dogs, which are fantastic, but there are also plenty of cats providing comfort and support for people. Take Truffles, the glasses-wearing cat! Truffles "works" with her optometrist mom in helping kids accept and celebrate their glasses.
